Educational Technology Resources
The Web sites listed below are
useful in teaching and training, both in the classroom and via
the Internet. The first has reviews of The
Educational Technology Handbook: A Comprehensive Guide
(***** 5 star rating) and an electronic order form; the second is
an outline of a university course based on this book. There
is a special section below with a link of particular interest to
k-12 teachers and another for Web-based distance learning.

focusing on integrating technology into the classroom. This
program is
designed for K-12 teachers, media specialists and technology

Educational technology and
Web-based learning publications
I wrote The Educational Technology Handbook: A Comprehensive
Guide: Process and Products for Learning with a lot of help
from friends (especially George F. Kneller, who passed away
February 14, 1999 at age 90), colleagues, and reviewers. Copies
may be ordered by contacting Educational Technology Publications
(edtecpubs@aol.com; 800-952-BOOK) or by using the Amazon.com
electronic order form (click here: The Educational Technology Handbook).

See also the May/June 1997 issue of Educational Technology
Magazine for my "Integrating Web-Based Learning Activities
into School Curriculums" and other articles pertaining to
use and evaluation of Web resources. "The Role of
Discipline-Based Inquiry in Web-Based Learning" appears in
the September 1997 issue of Tech Trends. My main point there is
that WBL is most productive when guided by discipline-based
modes of inquiry (i.e., to DO science, historical analysis,
literary creation, etc., not just read ABOUT topics of interest
merely to produce colorful, or even multimedia, summaries).
See year 2000 and 2001 issues of Tech Trends for my
reports on "Changes in Computer Literacy as a Function of
Classroom Use and Gender." Email me for copies of my work on
"Confluent Education from the Perspective of Maurice
Merleau-Ponty's Philosophy" (the integration of cognitive
and affective/psychomotor dimensions of learning).
I welcome comments from all readers, and especially from those
college faculty who adopt The Ed Tech Handbook for use in
their courses (over 10 so far that I know of), and I interact
gladly with their students throughout the course and after.
