To utilize my knowledge of the English language by copyediting, indexing, and technical writing/editing.
Experience
- As an American Society for Quality Control (ASQC) certified quality engineer (CQE) for twenty-two years, wrote many technical documents that involved statistical and other technical language. Experience with paper and paper packaging, aluminum cans, electromechanics, electronics, and metal forming and machining. Gunnery-radar technician on B-47 aircraft.
- In eight years of contract teaching of English as a second language (ESL), taught university students and other adults who were from virtually every part of the globe, with my becoming aware of the specific English-learning problems of each culture and how to overcome those problems. Taught in Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, and the United States (Florida, Nevada, South Carolina).
- Taught writing and grammar at the college level.
- Using my diversified background, have copyedited technical and nontechnical manuscripts.
My ESL knowledge could be of particular value to a firm that does foreign business and employs technical writers and editors, and could be of special value to authors whose first language is not English.
