About Our Company
John Martin has been a boat builder in Hawaii for the last 23 years; building crafts ranging from commercial fishing boats, to surf skis. In 1990 he designed a one-man outrigger canoe for rough water, the first of its kind. In 1991 he began building the canoes. The sport took off and John has been building outrigger canoes ever since. Hawaiian Designs by John Martin now manufactures these performance outrigger canoes in one- and two-person models.

Services and Products
Our original canoe, the HONUKAI (Sea Turtle), is available in a two-person model. Our second generation canoe, the Nai'a (Dolphin), is available in a one-person model. Either model is available in the standard fiberglass and polyester resin lay-up or vacuum bagged, carbon, epoxy resin lay-up.

Our shop is located at 46-026 Alaloa Street in Kaneohe, HI (on Oahu). Normal business hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday thru Friday. You can also see our canoes in Hawaii at GO BANANAS and ISLAND PADDLER on Oahu, POLYNESIAN PADDLING PRODUCTS on the Big Island, and VALLEY ISLE MARINE CENTER on Maui.
