Henry Murphy currently services the accounting, tax, pension plan and consulting needs of businesses with annual sales up to several million dollars. These include services (professional practices, automotive, and engineering), construction (developers and builders), real estate management, retailing, and non-profit organizations.
Henry also services individuals, estates, and trusts in the areas of personal financial planning, investment management, tax planning, tax return preparation, and representation before various taxing and auditing authorities.
In the event specialized expertise in another area is needed, the firm maintains good working relations with area CPA firms, insurance agents, attorneys, money managers and other financial specialists.
HISTORY, EDUCATION AND TRAINING
Henry Murphy began his professional accounting career in 1975 as a staff auditor with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co., then the world's largest CPA firm. Three years later he joined Control Data Corporation as a consulting financial systems analyst, and, in 1981, left to establish his own tax and financial planning practice. Though Henry concentrates on start up businesses, he has counted many larger organizations among his clients, and he served for several years as acting tax manager of Educational Testing Service, an international organization with over $700 million in revenue.
Henry graduated from The Lawrenceville School in 1970, received his B.A. from Dartmouth College in 1974, and his MBA from Rutgers University in 1976. He holds a certificate in data processing and the "Certified Data Processor" designation from the ICCP. He has served on the adjunct accounting faculty of Mercer County Community College and Middlesex County College and was the recipient of the prestigious Rutgers Excellence Fellowship, a research fellowship to study accounting and finance at the doctoral level at Rutgers University in Newark. He is active in a number of local civic and charitable organizations.
