USED PARAGLIDERS:

US VOILES "Williwaw":

Size "100%" (92-115 kg all up weight), AFNOR Standard

Blue bottom with white trailing edge and yellow ribs. White top sail.

Purchased May, 1997.

About 75 flight hours and 100 sun hours. Full annual inspection by Bill Anderson at "The Soaring Center" (Porosity checked out at "new cloth" level), before being stored.

Good condition. Not perfect, but with proper care still has about two seasons left in her. Mark's personal wing for 1997-1999. This was a VERY popular wing in France. The design was in fact so popular, designer Sylvain Peretti carried the Williwaw over into his new company: Storm.

The wing has had some VERY minor repairs: A speed system pulley replaced, two line tabs re-sewn, and a line replaced. The tejin fabric has the reputation of holding up extremely well, and is used on "Flight Design" wings. The sail is in VERY good shape, with no tears, repairs, or significant stains.

Philippe Lami's review in April 1997 "Parapente Mag" States: (I'll put this stuff in here, because, even though they are popular in France, I'll bet NO ONE in the USA has ever heard of US Voiles or Williwaw before! MS)

(For Williwaw 95% size) "Properly laid out, the glider inflates quite easily, but requires a little brake to prevent it from overshooting. Turn characteristics are very up to date - the Williwaw turns flat. Precise, the glider's characteristics are best enjoyed by a pilot with some experience".

(Mark's note: I can confirm this. The Williwaw IS easy to fly, but it was ahead of its time in '97. Compared with the Quantum's and Philou's, the Williwaw had some zip to its turn. However, today it would be comparable to an Epsilon 3 or Allegra. This is a wing for a rated USHGA Novice, or a student that has shown some natural ability during training. A very good all around paraglider!

"Brake pressure increases dramatically towards min sink. Coming out of a spiral dive, there's only a light surge. Superb ears with one or two outside A's. Easy to pull, and reinflating by themselves. Trim speed: 35 kph. With speed bar: 41 kph (Note: Aerotests France clocked the Williwaw 100% at 43 kph at max takeoff weight.)

"Conclusion: Certainly an agreeable glider blessed with very good performance, but as with the Epsilon 2 it requires a certain level of experience".

"Inflation (3 stars), In flight (4 stars), Finish and appearance (4 stars), Performance (4 stars), Quality vs Price (4 stars), My (Lami's) personal enjoyment of the wing (4 stars)." Ratings are out of 5 stars.

Includes speed bar, backpack, cinch strap, custom made giant inner protection bag, US Voiles stickers, Williwaw 100% line plan (Helpful for future inspections).

Price: NOW $600! (includes shipping/ins).
