QUILTFEST 2000 Lectures
You won’t want to miss these three lectures, which will be presented throughout the weekend at the Kansas Museum of History, 6425 SW 6, Topeka, Kansas, beginning Friday evening, September 15. Admission is $5 per lecture and tickets are available in advance by mail, or if space is still available, lecture tickets will be available for purchase at the QUILTFEST 2000 registration desk at the Holiday Inn West Holidome, but they will not be available at the door of the Museum.
OPENING EVENT: FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 15 7:30–8:30 pm
Painting with Cloth—Katie Pasquini Masopust $5
Follow the development of Katie’s style (in this slide lecture and quilt presentation) as she shares her inspirations, mistakes, funny stories and design techniques. Beginning with her early painting through traditional quilts, Mandalas, 3-Dimensional and Isometric quilts, up to her present contemporary designs, including her Fractured Landscape and Ghost Layer wall quilts.

You’ll be inspired by this interactive slide show and presentation which is followed by a fast-paced parade of new and innovative quilting and sewing tips.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 10:00–11:00 am
Quilts from the Kansas State Historical Society—
Blair Tarr, Museum Curator $5
This talk will review some of the best of the 180 quilts in the collections of the Kansas State Historical Society, including quilts chosen for the 1995–96 exhibit, “Material Pleasures.” This exhibit showed 31 quilts of excellence at the museum, the first time many had been seen publically.
