Changzhou Orphanage Project 2004
The Changzhou children remain close to our hearts, because Homeland's projects in China began with a renovation of toddler and baby rooms in Changzhou in 2000. We made a site visit in November, 2003, and found a new project underway.

Director Chen led us through a construction site behind the main orphanage building which will become a new residence for older children and teenagers.  Several foundations and the government have provided enough funding for the bones of the project, but donations are needed to furnish the living quarters for the children.

Homeland Children's Foundation will begin with a donation of 30 new beds for the new quarters. The cost estimate for the purchase, delivery and installation of the new beds is $3500 US. Please give what you can. Every amount helps.

The older children in Changzhou are a sweet and friendly group.  Many of them suffer handicaps and they are clearly the neediest of all the children in the orphanage.  They were eager to meet the foreign "aunties" and each stretched out a welcoming hand and offered a smiling "Nihao".  We promised them we would come back and do something good for them, as they sat lined up in their beds in a cold room with a cement floor.

We hope that you will join us in keeping our promise to them.
