Why Tours?
Well, for the most part academic works such as reports and other research documents never seem to find their way into popular knowledge about various Native American tribes, least of all the Hopi. Although we have been studied for over a century by many non-Indian anthropologists we believe that our heritage should be interpreted properly and educate the public on our close affinity to the Archaeological Ruins found throughout the Southwest.
This is also an effort to rejuvenate the local Hopi economy by creating more opportunities for tourism that drives businesses such as the Hopi Cultural Center hotel and restaurant, Walpi village tours, local arts & crafts shops, local craftsmen, and other local stores. By beginning this business endeavor we hope to build a continuing, stable source of tourism promotion to the Hopi reservation.
Another major benefit we hope to achieve is the donation of profits from our tours to a local school on the reservation in great need of funding, The Hopi Mission School. This is a local, private school that makes great strides in educating our young Hopi children and giving them a great foundation to build their lives on. The Hopi Mission School is located in the village of Kykotsmovi and accepts donations directly as well. This school is a great benefit to Hopi parents who wish for their children to achieve a solid education, build character and discipline for their future.
Visit the Southwest and the Hopi Mesas and contribute to the education of young Hopi children as select tour profits are given directly to the school for use in needed areas.
