John Hebert
John Hebert "Custom" Sketch Cards
John Hebert was born and raised in a strange and far away land - Wynantskill, NY.  He discovered the world of comic books after catching a rerun of the BATMAN TV show in 1970 and was hooked instantly, even drawing life-sized crayon renderings of Batman and Robin on his living room wall.  Once his mother calmed down, he was constantly provided with drawing tools and PAPER to keep him busy.

Fast forward to college art school, a life drawing teacher introduced John to Mike Zeck the legendary Marvel artist and a student/teacher alliance was formed.  2 years later and just 2 days before graduation Hebert was hired to draw his first independent comic book - "SOLD OUT!" for FantaCo.  From that point, our intrepid penciler clawed his way up the ladder of basically every comic company out there until finally getting "the call" from Marvel in 1990.

Once with the "Big M', John started right in on “DEATHLOK” & “PUNISHER”, eventually working on almost all of the latter's titles while also drawing a strip called "The Twilight Empire" for TSR.  In 1993, Hebert took over the penciling duties on "X-MEN ADVENTURES,” remaining on that title until he was driven out of comics shortly after the tragic and untimely death of his fiancé' on Christmas Eve of 1995.

Disillusioned, Hebert left his beloved comics business and went out in "the real world,” dabbling in auto finance, printing company management, firefighting, emergency medical services, acting, and politics before finally settling at The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services where he rose through the ranks from fingerprint examiner to shift supervisor where he remains today.

John still dabbles in comic book art from time to time and has been known to say "Never say never again,” but when not working for DCJS, he spends a great deal of time still dabbling in politics, working on his car collection, flying in the face of authority and contemplating what to do when he grows up.
