THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF COPIER ARTISTS, Ltd. (I.S.C.A.)

Welcome to the Home Page of the INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF COPIER ARTISTS. The Society was founded by Louise Neaderland in 1981 as a non-profit, professional organization to promote the use of the copier as a creative tool, and to establish xerography as a legitimate and collectible art medium.

From 1982-2003 the I.S.C.A. Quarterly was the assemblage project of the Society. There were three spiral bound print issues and a box of 30-40 small bookworks. The final issue of the Quarterly appeared in June 2003. Subscribers to the Quarterly included the following institutions:

  • Atlanta College of Art
  • Brooklyn Museum
  • Getty Center
  • Metropolitan Museum
  • New York Museum of Modern Art
  • Sackner Archive
  • Smithsonian Institution
  • Tate Galleries
  • University of Newcastle
  • Victoria & Albert Museum

Back issues, complete or partial sets of the Quarterly may be purchased. Availability and prices upon request

To achieve our goal of promoting the use of both the copier and the computer as creative tools the Society has four major areas of activity:

1.The I.S.C.A. ANNUAL BOOKARTS JAM will replace the I.S.C.A. Quarterly in September 2004. This will be a collation of artist contributed book editions. Artists interested in submitting a book for consideration for inclusion in that issue should contact the Society.

2.Iscagraphics is our traveling exhibition of xerographic prints and artists' books. This exhibition is available to university, library, community center, and alternative exhibition spaces for a nominal fee.

3. Slide Archive of the work of our members, open to the public, other artists, curators, journalists, and collectors (by appointment only).

4. Lectures and Workshops are offered, both alone and in conjunction with the traveling exhibition.

Our plans for the future include the establishment of a Virtual Gallery of prints and artists' books.

There are two categories of membership in the Society, Contributimg Artists and Subscribers.
