The Concilors are another of those great sprawling families that appear quite early on the Delmarva peninsula and rapidly become associated with other "founding members" of the mixed race community in Kent Co. DE. And as with these early families, it is often difficult to sort out the relationships.
The earliest record for this family on the Delmarva Peninsula is found in the 1674 Titheables for Accomac County VA. where John Consalues appears. From 1674-1676 his name appears as Consalues, Gonsaloes, Gonsaloos and Gonsaovoe. Whatever the spelling, it is a decidely "non-English" name although the origins are not known. Interestingly we also find the Francisco family in Accomac Co. at this time so it is possible the connection between these two families began at this early date.
Like the Franciscos, by 1726 members of the Concilor family had moved north and appear in Kent Co. DE where on August 6, 1726, Letters of Administration on the estate of Thomas Consela were granted to his widow Joanna Consela.
On September 26, 1739 another Thomas Conselah , probably related to the first (either father or son) and called a planter, wrote his will in Kent Co. DE. It was probated on October 20, 1739 and mentions his daughters: Sarah Butcher, Elizabeth Francisco and Mary Conselah. Also mentioned in the will was a grandson William Consela .
We do not know William's parents. He could have been the son of Mary Conselah or Thomas may have had a son who died prior to him (possibly the Thomas who died in 1726?).
