Daniel Durham Daniel Durham
Daniel Durham was the son of Benjamin Durham and his first wife whose name is unknown. He was born, probably in St. Jones Hundred, Kent Co., DE sometime before 1795. We know he had at least one sister, Elizabeth.

After his mother died, his father re-married Elizabeth Hansor and the family moved to Jolly's Neck Farm along the present Rte. 100, west of Rt.13.

In February 1810, Daniel and his step-mother, Elizabeth were named administrators of his deceased father's estate. By 1813 , the accounts on that estate indicate that Daniel was the sole acting administrator.

On Sunday morning, 19 February, 1815, John McCoy was called to Daniel's house. He found Daniel sick in bed and wanting to make a will . This will divided everything between Daniel's sister, Elizabeth, and his two half-sisters, Hannah and Eleanor (the children of Benjamin and Elizabeth). There is no mention made of any wife or children so it is likely that Daniel was not married at the time of his death.

Sometime between 19 February and 9 March, Daniel Durham died. One of the witnesses to the will, Elizabeth Farmer, had also died so it is possible that some sickness overtook the household.

Named administrator of Daniel's estate was Hugh Durham. This was probably Daniel's cousin, the son of Daniel Durham and his wife, Nicey Durham (Bass).
