Cornelius Hansor was born c.1753 in Kent Co., DE. He was the son of William Hansor and his second wife, Mary. Cornelius was mentioned as the principal heir in his father's will in 1757, inheriting Jolly's Neck Farm in 1768 when his father died. His step-mother, Sarah (Durham?) Hansor was appointed guardian until Cornelius reached the age of 17. In March 1773, Cornelius sold off a portion of Jolly's Neck to Benjamin Wells. His half brother, Jonathon and half-sister Rachel signed the quit claims. He sold the rest of the farm to his half brother, Nehemiah Hansor at the same time. Although no longer at Jolly's Neck, Cornelius remained in Kent Co. He appeared in the 1782 Little Creek Hundred Levy Lists. Letters of Administration on his estate were granted on 6 January, 1814 to William Collins. I know very little about Cornelius. His relationship to a later Cornelius Hansor is not known yet. It is possible they were father and son. |
