NEWS, OBITUARY: JIM LAWRENCE FOUND DEAD ON TUESDAY
The community was shocked Tuesday to learn of the death of James H. Lawrence, painter, plasterer and interior decorator, who had lived and worked in this community his entire life. His death was discovered by his business associate, Forrest Corbett, who called at the home early Tuesday morning. the body was hanging from a rafter in the garage. county Coroner Dr. H. M. Wellman stated there would be no inquest. Mr. Lawrence was born in this county March 21, 1886, and had spent most of his adult life in Clarion, working at his trade. On September 26, 1892 he and Florence Culmer, a resident of Clarion, formerly of Leeper, were married Two children were born; Sarah who preceded her father in death, and Mrs. Emogene Lund, who lives in Ridgway. Mrs. Lawrence also survives. Funeral services will be conducted this Thursday afternoon from the home at 104 South Eight avenue, at four o'clock. Rev. A. C. Howe, Methodist minister, will officiate. Mr. Lawerence was a member of the Methodist church, and also of the Odd Fellows lodge. 

OBITUARY: MISS SARAH E. LAWRENCE 
Miss Sarah Esther Lawrence, 28, registered nurse and well -known resident of Clarion, died at the family home, 104 S. Eight Ave., Clarion, at 4:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon, following an extended illness. She was a daughter of James M. and Florence C. Lawrence and was born in Clarion on March 18, 1914. She graduated from the Clarion high school in 1932. She was a member of the Methodist church of Clarion. She is survived by her parents and one sister, Mrs. John A. Lund, of Ridgway. Funeral services will be conducted at the home at :30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon by Rev. Mark Parry, pastor of the Methodist church, and Dr. D. A. Platt. Interment will be in the Clarion cemetery.

NEWS: EDWARD J. & CHARLES E. LAHR (Pictured)
Here are two of the three Lahr boys who are in the service. Left is Edward J., AMM2/c, Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, Maryland, Right is Pvt. Charles E. Lahr, Srgt. in the Marine Corps at San Diego California. Both are sons of Mr. and Mrs. F. X. Lahr of Clarion. Charles is the husband of the former Lois Schrecengost, and his address is AT Sqdn. 131, MCA? Miramar, San Diego, 45, Calif.

NEWS: ANDREW V. LAHR (Pictured)

Another son of Mr. and Mrs. F. X. Lahr is Cpl. Andrew V., who is now in France with the army after a two year stay in England. His full address may not be published, but may be obtained from his parents.

OBITUARY: MRS. MARY LERCH   
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov 19, at 2 p.m., from the Monroe chapel for Mrs. Mary Sterrett Lerch, Rev. E. C. Hasenplug officiating and burial was made in the Sligo cemetery. Mrs. Lerch was born July 15, 1878 and died November 17, 1941. She was a member of Monroe chapel and the Woman's Society of Christian Service. She is survived by her husband Hayes Lerch; one brother, John Starrett, of Clarion, and by one sister, Mrs. John P. Reed of Miola.

OBITUARY: GERTRUDE F. LEWIS, AREA WOMAN DIES (The Clarion News, April 24, 1984)
Gertrude F. Lewis,
77, of R.D. 2 Clarion, died Friday, April 20, 1984 at Clarion Hospital. She was born May 26, 1906 in Townville, Crawford County, and was a daughter of James and Nellie Mason Parker. She was married in 1927 to Clyd C. Mahle. He died Dec. 7, 1941. In 1959 she married Roy Lewis, who died in June 1968. Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker and a member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church in Miola. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Harold (Lois) Conner of RD2 Clarion, Nellie Steiner of RD 3 Clarion and Mrs. Richard (Jane) Mc Afoose of Corsica; four sons, John and David Mahle, both of RD2 Clarion, Chester Mahle of Milersville and Raymond Mahle of RD1 Rimersburg. Also surviving are four stepchildren, 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by four sisters, two brothers and one stepdaughter. Services were at 2 p.m. Monday in the Shiloh Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Steve V. Doughty officiating. The Goble Funeral Home, Clarion was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in Miola Cemetery.

Lilly, of Washington township, in the County of Clarion and District aforesaid, a bankrupt: Notice is hereby given that on the 6th day of October, A.D. 1904, the said Wm. C. Lilly was duly adjudicated bankrupt, and that the first meeting of his creditors will be held in the office of Wm. J. Greary, Esq., Clarion, Pa., on the 21st day of October, A.D. 1904, at one o'clock n the afternoon, at which time the said creditors may attend, prove their claims, appoint a trustee, examine the bankrupt, and transact such other business as may properly come before said meeting.  James Denny Daugherty, October 8th 1904, Referee in Bankruptcy

OBITUARY: JAMES BIRD LINDSEY   
James Bird Lindsey
, 64, of Scotch Hill, died at 11:15 a.m. Friday n the Brookville hospital as the result of a hemorrhage. He was born April 24, 1882, at Scotch Hill and had resided there his entire life. He was employed in the strip mining industry. Mr. Lindsey was a member of the Scotch Hill Methodist Church. Surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Miles O'Donnell of Truemans, Richard Lindsey of Olean, N.Y.; Clarence Lindsey of Union City; Wayne Lindsey of Scotch Hill; John Lindsey of Jamestown, N.Y.; Mrs. Blanche Beers of West Windfield; and Mrs. Louis Detrie of Independence, Kan. He also is survived by a number of nephews and nieces. The body was taken to the Moore funeral home, Leeper.

OBITUARY: LINDSEY, JAMES BIRD 
Lindsey, James Bird
of Scotch Hill, died at 11:15 a.m. Friday in the Brookville hospital in his 64th year. Beloved brother of Mrs. Miles O'Donnell, Mrs. John Folely, Mrs. Blanche Beers, Mrs. Louis Detrie, Richard, Clarence, Wayne and John Lindsey. The body was taken to the Moore funeral home , Leeper, where friends are invited to call. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Scotch Hill Methodist Church with Rev. Samuel Alaman, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Scotch Hill cemetery.

OBITUARY:  E.G. LINNMAN,  COPPERSTOWN, DIED AT 79
COOPERSTOWN - Edward G. Linnman, 79 Cooperstown RD 1, Lake Creek Road, died in the Franklin Hospital at 12:45 a.m. Saturday following an illness of about two months.  He was born July 14, 1860, in Norrkofing? , Sweden, moving to this country while a young man.  He was united in marriage with the former Edna Hamilton, who died in 1906.  He had no known surviviors.  Mr. Linnman was a carpenter and a saw mill worker by trade. The body is in the Burger Funeral Home, where friends may call.

OBITUARY: LONG, BERTIE FULTON (MRS. DAVID M.)
Mrs. Bertie Fulton Long
, wife of David M. Long, died at the family home, Main Street, Emlenton, PA., on Monday morning, April 16, 1928 at 8:50 o'clock. She had been ill for several weeks and for a time was a patient in the West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh. Having returned from that institution the day before her death. Mrs. Long was born October 05, 1866, at Reidsburg, Clarion County, PA., the daughter of the late George Washington Fulton and Mrs. Sabina (Hindman) Fulton, both deceased. She was united in Marriage with David M. Long, December 16, 1890, at Reidsburg, PA. To them were born two children, who with their father, survive, as follows: George Emil Long and Mrs. Guiy B. Hunter, both of Emlenton. Surviving also are one brother and two sisters: G. A. Fulton, of Tarentum, PA; Mrs. D. O. North, of Horning, Pa., and Mrs. Mabel Christy, of Tarentum, Pa. Mrs. Long's early life was spent at Reidsburg, Pa. They resided for seven months in Greensburg ,Pa., coming to Emlenton 35 years ago last December 20th, since which time she resided continuously in Emlenton. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Long was a woman of noble character, devoted to her family and home life. She was a member of Fort Venango Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, April 18, at 2:00 o'clock at the family home in charge of her pastor, Rev. Boyd F. Williams. Interment followed in the Emlenton cemetery.

OBITUARY: MRS. ALICE J. LOWRY (Clarion Democrat June 2. 1964)
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m Wednesday, June 3, from the Baner Funeral Home in Kittaninning for Mrs. Alice Jane Lowry, 81, of Shippenville, a former resident of McGrann, who died in the Howard C. Marcy Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Sept 8, 1882, in Fairmount City, she was a daughter of George and Mary Hillard McDonald. (There is more but cut off this page I printed)

Robert Lowry,
a respected citizen of the First Ward, died on Saturday night, after a long and painful illness.  He was a son-in-law of Lyman A. Brown, and leaves a wife and nine children.  He had been employed at the Eclipse for several years, and was a sober industrious man.

John Lutz,
who was taken to the Oil City Hospital on Monday of last week from his home in Snydersburg, Clarion County and who underwent an operation Wednesday, died at 8 o'clock last Thursday morning. His body was taken to his home in Snydersburg were the funeral took place.
