Security Guard on a Bench

Here's another image I made during the America 24/7 week. I was wandering around Cannery Row looking for some ordinary, everyday life to capture. I found this brightly lit scene and thought I could make something of it. A security guard was sitting on a bench almost completely motionless as people and cars passed around him. If you look closely you can see a blur of two pedestrians moving in front of him.

I shot this with a fairly long exposure, just over half a second. Too long for hand-held shooting. Unfortunately, I didn't have a tripod with me, but I did have a wall to lean on for some stability. I had to take several shots, then check the LCD display for motion blur. I made a total of six shots before I got it right.
