At this intersection, five streets converge. Here we are looking south on Munras. To the right, just out of the photo, the street splits into a Y with Jefferson going uphill, while Polk comes into this intersection. On the left, Pearl street leads towards Lake El Estero, while behind the camera Munras becomes Alvarado, the main street of downtown Monterey.

On the right is the Cooper Molera adobe, one of Monterey's many historic treasures. Across the street is Jules Simoneau Plaza, a small triangular block named after the owner of a restaurant that stood on the property in the latter half of the 19th Century. Locals, however, refer to it as the Monterey Transit Plaza, for it is also the peninsula's hub for local bus services.

Taken on a Saturday Night, I have captured a hint of Monterey nightlife. A small band of teenagers form a blur as they walk down the street towards Safeway.
