Once upon a time, a very long time ago, I received a gift of a stuffed Pluto dog. Unfortunately, I don't remember who gave him to me. I was only about 3 years old. He was my friend and constant companion. I hung onto him wherever I went. I remember going to a photograher for the family picture, and they tried to take my Pluto away from me....just for the picture. I refused, even at that young age...and got my way. Now, it is one of my most treasured pictures I keep on my mantle....Pluto and me.

Thru those years I remember occassionally seeing Pluto hanging by his ears on the clothes line to dry, as ragged as he was. One time, my parents actually succeeded in sneaking the poor, worn out rag from me. He was a pitiful sight! When I discovered my precious Pluto missing, I remember vividly my Mother consoling me as she made phone calls to every store in town to find me another Pluto. I had to have him back! Luckily, one was found due to my Mother's caring and persistance....and once again I was a happy child.

They no longer make Plutos like I had when I was a child.....they were so cuddley. But, to this day, I collect every Pluto item I can find. Stuffed ones, ceramic ones, pictures, posters and mugs fill my home. Now I have recently discovered eBay community online auctions. WOW! The many Plutos I have found there! It has been a joy to finally find Plutos to add to my large collection. Years ago, I made a trip to DisneyWorld and was fortunate to have my picture taken with me and Pluto...what a treasure!

Thru Pluto, and the support and graciousness of my parents, I have grown up with a true love and respect of all pets and animals. It was not unusual for me to bring strays home. It always seemed they needed me...and I needed them. Years ago, my husband stopped letting me take the trash to the dump. He did it instead. If I went to the dump, I usually had a dog or cat that I brought home with me. I never have understood why anyone would put an animal out at a trash dump...or any lonely place away from it's home.

My pets are part of my family. A lesson I have learned from them is that we don't spoil them....they spoil us. That may be a lesson you will discover if you ever lose a pet, and no one is at the door to greet you anymore.

When I signed on as an AOL member years ago, I stumbled into Pet Chat. What a great place!! The members there were so kind. I needed some understanding seeing as tho I had just lost my "shadow" of a dog, Dolly. I became a frequent visitor to Pet Chat.

I have enjoyed every minute in Pet Chat. The room is always full of great folks....the kind that are loving and caring. I have made many wonderful online friends thru Pet Chat. Anyone who cares for animals must be a wonderful soul!

The world is such a nicer place because of pets. And the world I hope to see one day, when my time is done here, will be filled with all of those pets and animals that I cared for.....and they cared for me....in my lifetime. I believe in the Rainbow Bridge :-)  Be responsible pet owners.
