He married (1) JANE BEARD August 25, 1819 in Wayne Co., Indiana, daughter of THOMAS BEARD and ELIZABETH DICKS. She was born November 6, 1801 in Randolph Co., North Carolina, and died February 16, 1835 in Crawfordsville, Montogery Co., Indiana. He married (2) MARY STINE April 6, 1837 in Montgomery Co., IN.. She died Bet. 1845 - 1849. He married (3) ELIZA W. CROOKS March 21, 1849 in Montgomery Co., IN.. She was born 1808 in Kentucky, and died August 4, 1889 in Montgomery Co., IN..

1820 census: Breek, Richard, Wayne Co., IN., pg #271 on micofilm. I haven't viewed it yet. Richard Breaks and Jane, Jane's sisters, Hannah Beard Groendyke, and Martha Beard Miller and her brother, John Beard, and their families all went to Crawfordsville, Montgomery Co., IN. in about 1823. The Beard's and Groendyke's were always neighbors but Martha Beard Miller, her husband, Isaac Miller and their 10 children left for Illinois about 1838.
1830 census: Bricks, Richard, Montgomery Co., IN.,1male 15-20, 1 male 10-15, 1 male 30-40, 1 female under 5, 2 females 5-10, 1 female 15-20.

Richard Breaks has a will on file in Montgomery Co., IN.
From Beckwiths History:"Richard's first employment was as a farm hand, but later had practical charge of the entire farm. Later, he was able to purchase a small farm of his own north of Crawfordsville. He moved his young wife, Jane Beard to this place, which has since been known as the Breaks neighborhood.He added to his land from time to time as he prospered { A total of 400 acres from first purchase on April 15, 1825 to Feb 8, 1831} and he became one of the leading farmers of the community and at the time of his death was considered very comfortable. About 1842 he was among the first trustees in the Liberty Chaple Church. Later in 1866 the church was moved to land donated by him. He also gave the land and helped to establish Breaks School. His extensive landed estate was gradually lessened by the fact that he gave each of his many children eighty acres of land at the time of their marriage."

I have a copy of the marriage application from Montgomery Co., IN. Richard Breaks and Eliza King She was Eliza Crooks King, widow of Eliza King}. It was signed by Ezekiel Everett saying they were old enough to get married without parent's consent. Said Richard was the age of 30 and Eliza was 25. Ezekiel Everett was father-in-law to Richard's daughter, Hannah Breaks who married Jonathan Everett 8 days later.
