THE TOMORROW'S HANGOVER STORY
Founded in the summer of 2002 in the Inland Empire, guitarist Jay Carney had an idea for a classic rock band that was a step above the typical bands seen on the local circuit. Where most bands require four, five or even more players, TOMORROW'S HANGOVER amazingly, rocks & rolls with only three! Some of the best bands in history have been power trios. Power trios only work with accomplished, talented musicians. Partygoer's that witness the spectacle that is TOMORROW'S HANGOVER come away awestruck that three guys can put out that much sound and still be tasty, entertaining and fun.
To form this power trio, Jay knew he needed some of the best players in the business to compliment his guitar wizardry. First up was drummer Joe Goldberger from Brooklyn, New York. Joe's jazz background gave him the expertise to drive TOMORROW'S HANGOVER to a rhythmic frenzy but yet still be sensitive enough to bring out the aural dynamics that are rarely heard with this type of group in this setting. Joe performances are "captivating and mesmerizing" and his skill and execution on the drum kit is flawless and impeccable.
Next up was bassist extraordinaire, Jeff Stone. Cool and collective, Jeff's jazz background perfectly accentuates Joe's rhythmic drive and Jay's guitar virtuosity. Hailing from Montclair, California Jeff's playing can best be described as "driving and thoughtful, powerful and focused". Jeff makes playing his uncommon 6-string bass look easy and his cool demeanor and strong high background vocals helps to balance the musical fervor of the rest of the band.
Guitarist Jay Carney hails from Rancho Cucamonga, California. Like the rest of the band, his many years of performance experience have developed his playing to the point that musicians from other bands frequently show up at TOMORROW'S HANGOVER gigs to watch and learn from Jay's playing. Where most guitarists use complicated, massive gear to get a basic sound, Jay's gear is minimal consisting of just an amp and guitar, the basic foundation of all rock music. As Jay says, "It's not in the equipment, it's in the hands" and he proves this night after night with his incredible playing. In addition to his awesome guitar work, Jay's bluesy voice is the musical anchor of the band. Soulful and inspiring, Jay vocals capture the essence of the meaning of each song. To be able to sing complicated melodies while playing virtuosic guitar at the same time is a mark of true talent.
What makes TOMORROW'S HANGOVER different from the rest of the bar bands out there? One word, TALENT!!! TOMORROW'S HANGOVER is composed of seasoned musicians with backgrounds from all musical styles playing together in a sort of organized chaos. Where most bar bands stick primarily to basic rock and blues, it is not uncommon for TOMORROW'S HANGOVER to perform a driving blues song, followed by a reggae song, then a country song, then a ballad followed by an Elvis tune or a hard rocker. And this is all in the same SET!!! Few bands are able to appeal to so many different musical tastes. TOMORROW'S HANGOVER'S sheer versatility is what sets them apart, far apart from most bands that play the same tired old songs night after night.
Members of TOMORROW'S HANGOVER have held extended engagements at such high profile Los Angeles area venues as "Billboard Live" (now The Key Club), the "House of Blues" on the Hollywood Strip, "Aftershock" in Studio City, "Pompeii" in Palm Springs, "The Ritz Carlton" in Pasadena and Laguna, Disneyland "After Dark", and a host of others with upcoming engagements in Las Vegas, Laughlin, Hawaii and Northern California.
