The cause of breast cancer is usually unknown. Known and suspected risk factors
include mutation of the genes called BRC1 and BRC2; family history of breast
cancer; aging; hormonal change; diet; obesity, etc. Prevention includes
self-breast examination and mammography. Treatment may consist of surgery,
radiation, chemotherapy or hormonal therapy. Although less commonly seen, breast
cancer can occur in the males.
