Harford County Public School Facilites Department Workers have been unknowingly
exposed to asbestos while repairing windows throughout the county in many school
buildings. For years, the repair of windows has involved the replacement of the glazing
which surrounds the glass when new windows are installed. This glazing apparently
contained asbestos! Thus, as it was scraped and chiseled out by workers, it became
airborne!
Currently, workers are very concerned since they were not told that they were being
exposed! Workers are very upset and rightfully so!!!! In addition, one must wonder if
your children also were breathing in these asbestos fibers! Currently, the workers who
replaced these windows over the years, are slated to be tested for asbestos exposure!
It was only at their insistance that this is taking place! many workers are also
seeking legal advice since their lives could now be effected as well as their families!
The question then is raised, if facility workers were possibly exposed, what about your
precious children!!!!
By not adhering to established standards and safety precautions, the Harford County
School System has open themselves up to a potential class action law suit for
repeated exposures due to negligence by top officials!
Thus, it is important to recognize that the fibers that cannot be see (micron level) are
the most dangerous fibers! Thus, without proper testing, it is virtually impossible to be
sure about exposure until symptoms show up .... possibly twenty years later! Thus,
individuals concerned should be tested!
On another note, the Harford County public School System, is going to be having
workers tested by their own doctors!!! Does this sound like a bigger snow-job!!!! All
workers should seek independent tests at all levels through their own doctors!!! In
addition, the Harford County public School System should be sent the bill!!! If they do
not pay it, sue them!!!! Mr. Peter Angelos, has Offices in the World Trade Center
located at the Inner Harbor. We are sure, that his firm would be interested in this
negligent behavior by the School System and your exposure!
