To: Prospective Owners
This page serves as an introduction to our efforts involving the rescue, evaluation and placement of abused and unwanted exotic birds. We have been involved in this activity for over ten years having fostered and placed numerous conures, amazons, cockatoos, cockatiels, macaws, etc.. We have been working with representatives of several bird clubs as well as local humane societies and veterinarians. References are available upon request. We started doing this to fill a void as there are no active rescue organizations in the immediate area.
When we get a bird in, it is quarantined and checked by a veterinarian as needed. We work with the bird’s behavior, handling and nutrition. We house the birds in our home and evaluate them to see what kind of home environment or breeding situation they should be placed in. We work with the persons involved in the adoption to achieve a proper environment. We do a home and veterinarian check and ensure that they know where the closest avian emergency veterinarian is located . We keep in touch with all involved. If circumstances change and they can no longer properly care for the bird, they are to return the bird to rescue.
All birds remain in rescue until a suitable home is found. Rescue maintenance fees are required with each adoption to cover the costs associated with the care and feeding of numerous birds. Fees vary based upon species, age, condition and medical needs.
If you are interested in adopting a bird, please fill out and return the questionnaire.
