Welcome to my homepage!
(For those of you wondering, my last name is pronounced "LIE-kins" but I've learned to answer to anything that even comes close.)
This is a work in progress, which will probably never be finished because I'll never figure out the mysteries of cyber-stuff, but at least I can meet some of my readers and have a chance to visit with you. Feel free to make suggestions or ask questions. I love hearing from my readers! And, yes, I DO ride motorcycles! This was a fun photo shoot that won the photographer a national award. If you want to see another neat picture taken during the same shoot, click on the photo gallery link below.  And, yes, that is me plummeting out of a plane in my first tandem skydive.  FANTASTIC!  I think I'm going to be a jumping junkie!  I also fenced for a while, until I got interested in Karate.  I'm a 1st Dan (degree) Black Belt in American Kyokushinkai. Sixth Dan Master Chris Mahoney is my Sensei at Ro-Ken Karate. (Took four years of nonstop work!)  I've taken Tai Chi and Qigong, and a few years ago I finished a Greek class for the fun of it.  (Some people might say I have a short attention span.  Personally I like to think of it as having a healthy curiosity about lots of things.)  When time permits, my next adventure is going to be learning to scuba dive. In the meantime, my husband and I are experiencing the joys of the empty nest, and while we're traveling around, I get to indulge in another hobby that I love...photography.  You won't see many people in my pictures, because I love the challenge of capturing the scene, but I also enjoy trying to get great,  unique poses in portraiture, when I can get someone to sit still for me long enough.
I was a military wife before my husband got out of the Air Force, so I've lived everywhere from the Philippines to Little Rock, AR.  We live in western Tennessee now, near Memphis, and yes, I've been to Graceland, home of Elvis Presley, more times than I can count.  That destination seems to be high on all the priority lists of things to see when people come to visit.  I decided I'd taken one too many visitors when I started giving more information about the place than the tour guides did.  Now I just point my guests in the right direction, or offer to drop them off and pick them up.
I love to travel, and the Air Force gave us the opportunity to visit Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, England, Scotland, France, Guam, Hawaii.  Since then we've taken the opportunity to revisit some of our favorite places, and add some new wonderful memories, such as Rome, Pompeii, Venice, Florence, Amsterdam, the Caribbean Islands, Mexico, Israel, and Egypt.  Next summer we hope to take a photo safari to South Africa.  As much as I loved visiting every one of those places - and I want to revisit all of them someday - there's still nothing like wandering around the Old South and soaking up the atmosphere and ghosts that still hover in the air there. The South is my favorite location for novels, but I want to find new settings all over the country. I ALWAYS visit the locations of my novels while I'm writing them, so, of course, I always pick wonderful places, even if they sometimes seem obscure.  A picture from the actual setting of my next book is in the following link.  Photo gallery

For those of you who love romance and time travel (if you saw "Somewhere in Time" with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour, or "Kate and Leopold" with Meg Ryan and Hugh Jackman, you know what I mean), then I think you'll enjoy my books. My favorite part of writing my books is watching the characters fall in love, against all the odds that I can throw at them. Below is a link to blurbs of each of my books. In the meantime, if you liked either of those movies, then try one of my books. Go ahead! I dare you! :D

If you're a writer, here's a link to some handouts that I've given during conference workshops.  I've been amazed at how many people have written and asked me to post advice and info, so I hope this helps!  I plan to rotate articles, so check in every now and then.  Articles

A lot of times, people ask me about my routine of writing...when do I write, what gives me ideas, do I have anything special I do?  The biggest surprise to most people is that I write all my books longhand, using a spiral notebook and whatever my favorite pen is at the time.  I can curl up anywhere and write, my favorite place being on my backporch, listening to my waterfall.  When the muse doesn't smile on me, I'll jump in the car, put on my favorite CD (almost always a Collin Raye CD), and drive out into the country.

For those of you who would like to email me, please be sure and put "website," the title of one of my books, or a character's name in the subject. This way I'll know you aren't spam and I won't accidentally delete you. :D

For those of you who are lovers of time travels, I'll be putting glimpses of my upcoming books on this page.
The list of my titles are:
Lost Yesterday
Echoes of Tomorrow
(By the way, the hero in this book is based on my husband)
Waiting for Yesterday
Christmas Spirits Anthology
(My novella has "hauntings" in it that actually happened to me!)
Distant Dreams
River of Dreams
(a sequel to Distant Dreams)
I have no title or release date for my next book, but I'll publish the information here as soon as I have it!
Thanks for visiting, and keep checking in from time to time. I plan to throw some surprises your way!

One last word of wisdom, simply because I've had so many people contact me via email and snailmail...if you go into a bookstore and can't find an author or title, ask the store to order it for you. They can usually get the title within a few days. Not only does that help the author (and we ALL thank you!), but it also helps the bookstore know that they need to stock more of that author's books. Then, maybe, the next time you go in there, they'll have more of that author's books and you won't have to go searching.
Thanks for dropping in!
