God & church played a very important role in how I was raised. I was baptized into the church when I was 15 and began preaching part-time when I was 16. Religious poetry writing is a very cleansing experience for me & it helps to remind me that we should put God first in everything we do & that we are to love Him above all things & put our faith in Him.
A Humble Prayer
Father in Heaven, I come to you now.
With humblest of heart, to you I pray.
I ask you for much, of this I'm aware
But this is a prayer I cannot let wait.
Help me to love all the people of the world
even the ones I don't really like.
That I may want the best for every soul
even the ones that do me spite.
Help me, Lord that I may not think
more highly of myself than I ought to think.
That I may help the ones who are in need
and do it out of love not grudgingly.
Help me, Lord when I meet lost souls
to know that mine is to teach and not to condemn.
That I may help them to see the light of Your path
and maybe win their soul for you.
All of these things, I ask of you now
In humblest of heart. In Jesus' Name. Amen.
Upon The First Day of the Week
Upon the first day of the week, we gather together
To sing songs of praise to the Almighty Father.
How He sent His Son to die for us
and the many blessings He has given to us.
We come together to break bread and drink of the cup
which represent Christ's Body and Blood
in remembrance of the time He died for us,
when they sealed Him in the tomb and when He rose again.
We feed our souls with the knowledge of His Word
that we may know what it is that He will have us do.
We sing encouragement to those poor lost souls
hoping that they will let Jesus come into their hearts.
We offer our petitions and give our thanks
through the avenue of prayer that He graciously provides.
We ask His forgiveness when we sin and come short
and ask Him to guide us along the road of life.
Such a sweet delight shared by one and all
who gather together upon the first day of the week
to worship the Father in spirit and in truth
and look to the day when we can live with Him forever.
The Invitation Extended
Are you prepared to meet your Creator?
Are you prepared for the everlasting sentence?
If at this moment you were called from this life,
would you be able to claim the Great Inheritance?
Have you been buried with Christ in the watery tomb
and risen above to begin life anew?
Have your soiled garments been washed in His blood?
Has the gift of the Spirit been given unto you?
Now is the time to accept His saving grace.
Another time may be too late.
Your everlasting fate is in your own hands.
This is a choice you cannot let wait.
The Lost Sheep Has Been Found/Guard The Flock
Let there be rejoicing in the Kingdom of God
for the sheep has been found that went astray.
Saved from the clutches of ravenous wolves
that seek to devour everything in their way.
We must guard the sheep from all trace of harm.
We must not grow weary as we oversee the flock.
We have accepted a mission from our Great Shepherd
to richly feed and guard the flock.
The Road of Life
We travel through life with joy and pain
and ponder the joy of living each day.
We laugh with the good and weep over the bad
when life has given its best and worst.
But no place is so dear to my traveling heart
as above with the Father, the Son and the Spirit.
Where all is joy and nothing is pain
from this world and its sin with its trials so sore.
Though long it may seem, the path is so short
which leads the way into life everlasting.
If we do His Good Will, someday we shall see
the land where all is pure and clean.
No sorrow nor sickness, no pain nor strife,
no death nor violence, no hatred nor sin.
The Son is the light that shines so bright
and there is no night or darkness in sight.
Lord, hasten the day when we reach the end
of the path that leads to this wonderful place.
At the end of the way called the road of life.
In Sweet Communion
Upon the first day of the week,
by example from His Word,
we gather together in sweet communion
to partake of The Supper of the Lord.
In doing this, we remember Jesus' death,
His burial and His resurrection
And what it all means to us
that through it all, we can have salvation.
May all who partake of this precious feast
do it all in remembrance of the Saviour.
How He expressed His love for us
by giving His life on Calvary's cruel cross.
How they sealed Him in His tomb
and how He conquered over death
when He arose from the grave
to be alive forever more.
My Jesus Is So Kind
So precious to me is my Jesus above.
When I'm feeling alone, He lets me know that I am loved.
He lets me know that He is there to guide me.
That He will never leave me but always walk beside me.
He lets me know of His commands.
But when I stumble and fall, He understands.
For I am but human of flesh so weak.
He gives me hope that runs so deep.
All of my needs He so richly supplies.
I know that on Him I can rely.
He speaks to me of my Heavenly home
and that all who are there shall have joy unknown.
When I sin and fall short, I know He'll forgive.
His loving nature gives me hope to live.
How sweet it is to have my Lord so near!
For in His presence, I need have no fear.
I will serve my Lord forever more.
To follow His blessed example as He would implore.
To be loving and kind to those lost souls
that they too may follow Him to that Heavenly home.
I The Prodigal
O precious Lord, I hear Your call.
Your loving call for me to repent.
Though I have wandered so far away,
I come to You never to roam again.
I will cast upon You my every care
for my burdens have become too heavy to bear.
I come for the rest that You have promised
to all who are weary and need Your loving care.
I will never again turn to life's sinful ways
but nourish my soul with the Bread of Life.
I will not be ashamed to bear Your burden
for You are The Way that leads to life.
Blessed Foundation
O Blessed Foundation
on which salvation is built.
I give my life to You
that I may lose my sin and guilt.
I will not serve another god
but do everything that You command.
That I may be safe from sin's dread clutches
and live forever in the better land.
Paint a Picture of Jesus
Paint a picture of Jesus each day of your life
By following His example as He would implore.
Let the world see Him as a wonderful Saviour
That they may come to Him and be lost no more.
Paint a picture of Jesus by keeping yourself pure.
Avoid the filth of fleshly lusts.
Do not accept the things which are wrong
but fully lean toward that which is just.
Paint a picture of Jesus by being kind
And helping the people who are in need.
To nourish the ones who hunger and thirst
And comfort those whose hearts do bleed.
Paint a picture of Jesus by teaching God's Word
That people may know what He will have them do.
Let them know of His eternal love
And that they will be saved if to Him they are true.
Let Us Worship Him
Let us worship Him who made all things
For He alone is worthy of our praise.
Do not worship the image of a manufactured god
But serve the living God throughout your days.
Let us worship Him who showed His love
By sending His Son to die for our sins.
That we may be pure and whole in His sight
And a crown of life to someday win.
Let us worship Him in spirit and truth.
Let us praise His name with all our hearts.
Let us give Him thanks for all His blessings.
Let us glorify Him and keep Him in our hearts.
Cleansing Fountain
I'm going down to the cleansing fountain
All my sins to wash away.
To wash my garments much whiter than snow
That I may be prepared for that great day.
I'm going down to the cleansing fountain
That my soul may be clean and pure in God's sight.
This fountain flows with the Saviour's blood.
I will bathe my soul that all may be right.
I'm going down to the cleansing fountain
Tired of being unclean from sins of my past.
For only there are sins washed away
That I may start toward life which will forever last.
