Lubec Victorian Oceanside Vacation Rental
Lubec Victorian Oceanside Vacation Rental
THE VICTORIAN RENTAL HOUSE

The Victorian rental property is located on the road to West Quoddy Head State Park, Boot Cove Preserve, and the Lubec Sand Bar Wildlife Management Area. In fact, the Victorian is a short 1/4 walk along the beach or down the road from the Sand Bar. The house retains many of its original Victorian features -- tin ceilings, stained glass windows, beautiful wood work, and brass hardware.

The house has a living room fully equipped with TV/VCR/DVD with cable, books by Maine authors, and plenty of board games to keep the family entertained. If you prefer a quieter evening spent in period style, you can slip into the adjoining parlor and relax on the mahogany daybed in front of the Victorian fireplace and read or cuddle by the light of antique brass lamps. The kitchen has been updated and offers all modern conveniences including dishwasher, microwave, coffeemaker, and even a Cuisinart, yet the old charm has been preserved in the original wood floor, tin ceiling, and cupboards installed in the 1940s when the kitchen was added. The first floor also has a porch/sunroom with day bed and full bath.

Upstairs, two large bedrooms provide a queen bed and full size bed. The spacious full bath upstairs has a washer and dryer, too.

The outdoor patio area has a gas grill, picnic table, and lounge chairs. A walking path and stairs down to the shore provide easy access to the beach and the Sand Bar.

The Victorian sleeps 4 - 6 people comfortably. Sorry, no smoking indoors.

MAINE'S DOWN EAST COAST

Lubec is about as far "Down East" as you can get. It is home to the West Quoddy Head Lighthouse, situated at the easternmost point of land in the U.S. The Down East area showcases nature at her finest -- whales, porpoises, eagles, osprey, moose and bear inhabit the region. During the migration season, whales pass close enough to be observed from shore! Beach roses, wild iris, and beach peas line the pristine shoreline. In Lubec you will find sandy beaches, bold coastal cliffs, coastal rain forest, wildflower meadows, and peat bogs. The Lubec area is host to a national park, three state parks, a national wildlife refuge, and several nature preserves, all of which offer a variety of well maintained hiking trails. Local whale, wildlife, and puffin tours offer the chance to observe nature up close from the water as do kayak and canoe rental facilities and many public boat ramps. You can learn about the local culture and ecology on shoreline nature and history tours. The area has several golf courses nearby, too. The first naval battle of the Revolutionary War was fought in nearby Machiasport. Maine's own "Cannery Row" lined the waterfronts of Lubec and Eastport with sardine canning factories and herring smoke houses. You will find it all here -- rich history, spectacular scenery, abundant wildlife, and friendly people. You won't find pollution, traffic jams, or crowds.
