Run Wrinkle p qWRINKLE is a reaction-diffusion Java applet. I hope the controls are somewhat self-explanatory. I have now included all 16 possible tilings with marked squares (with no within tile symmetry). These are available with the "SQUARE" button. The symmetries are selected by poking one of the radio buttons at the lower left. The square symmetry names come from "Tilings and Patterns" by Grunbaum and Shephard (W.H. Freeman and Co., 1987). There is also a "brick wall" group ("RECT" button). The "RECT" symmetries offer more quantitative control than the square tiles. (Range of symmetries available from RECT expanded 5/7/2000.) The complexity of the patterns increases with the size of the patch (W and H). The ugly patch on the right lets you detect the cessation of change more easily. Of course you can capture the image and soup it up in your favorite editor. Comments/uses?
