*Deacon Edmund Rice, b. 1594 came from Barkhamstead, England, before 1639 and settled at Sudbury, Mass. Later removed to Marlboro, died there May 3, 1663 Age 69. His wife Tamazine Frost died at Sudbury June 13, 1654. She was married to Edmund in England.

His second wife, Mercie Heard, widow of Thomas Brigham, he married 3/1/1655. By his first wife he was the father of 9 children as follows:

*Thomas Rice, b. 1654, married Mary Withers 05/13/1677. Mary subsequently died at Watertown and Thomas married Anna Rice was his cousin. She was the mother of all his children. She was the daughter of’ Edward Rice, 2nd generation, and an ancestor of Dr. Rice of Alliance, Ohio, who traced this part of the genealogy, giving it to Miriam Cory Braden whose mother was Scphia Hayford, and her mother Polly Rice, who belonged to the 7th generation of the Rice Family.
