A Typical Club Session
We have players of all levels - from Newbies to Experts. For most games we try to pair players of similar abilities. Some players come every week. Others just come now and then.
All games are one-on-one and timed with a chess clock. Each player has 25 minutes to play his part of the game and each player is required to keep score. We use the Official Tournament and Club Word List, 2nd Edition, published by the National Scrabble® Association, as our word source.
New players are given a "cheat sheet" of all Scrabble® legal 2 & 3 letter words. In addition, they receive 3 free challenges per game and no time penalty. These perks apply the first three visits.
There is no fee to play, but we do have OPTIONAL dues of $3.00 per month or $25.00 annually. The dues money helps defray club and tournament expenses, and helps us provide special prizes as well.
You need not bring anything but yourself and a writing instrument the first time. We usually have plenty of equipment. Please come 5-10 minutes early so the directors can pair the players and get started promptly at 1:30. It would be helpful for you to read the "Top Ten" before coming to club, so click on the link above this article. We look forward to having you join us!
