Mary (Hammerling) Gable (Stoughton, WI) is the recipient of this year's Siri Anderson Excellence in Nursing Award at Skaalen Nursing Home. A plaque with Mary's name has been placed in the nursing home. Congratulations, Mary!
Pat (Henslin) Ehrenberg helped to organize Ripon's Dickens of a Quilt Show in early December. Pat's entry was "Damn Ugly Quilt," named because that's how a non-quilter described its pink, green, and yellow colors. (Ripon Commonwealth Press, December 6, 2007).
Leslie McConnell, daughter of Luanne "Punky" (Jess) and Doug McConnell (Ripon), is engaged to Bryan Ernst. Leslie is a 2007 graduate of Ripon College and is pursuing a graduate degree in special education at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. A July 12, 2008 wedding is planned. (RCP, January 17, 2008).
Mary Meyer, wife of Steve Meyer, was named Acuity Insurance Company's customer service representative of the month. Mary is manager of Diedrich Insurance Agency's Commercial Lines Department in Ripon. (RCP, January 17, 2008).
Hannah Root, daughter of Jeff and Penny Root (Fairfax, Virginia), played her tuba at Tuba Christmas at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, on December 14. Over 300 tuba and euphonium players practiced for two hours and then put on a 50-minute concert.
Hannah started conditioning for the high school crew team in November. Rowers will begin water training the last week in February.
Robert and Nancy Schanke (Pueblo West, CO) celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on September 25. Nancy has started teaching math at a middle school. Their son, James, will graduate from the University of Idaho in May with a double major in materials science engineering and metallurgical engineering. Their daughter, Angela, is majoring in mathematics and secondary education at the University of Wyoming.
Anne (Schmidt) Murphy (Puyallup, WA) has started tutoring four hours per week in an 8th grade classroom. Anne and Craig's daughter, Stephanie, competed in the second Varsity 8 boat for Gonzaga University last spring. Stephanie's boat won the WCC Championship and took second in the WIRA Championship in California. She will graduate with a bachelor in business administration degree in May. Anne and Craig's second daughter, Natalie, is a high school senior and on the varsity volleyball, basketball, and track teams. She is applying to colleges and hopes to major in architecture and interior design or business administration.
Mike Stark (Middleton, WI) has started a new job at Madison Area Technical College.
Sarah Zeatlow, daughter of Mark and Marilyn Zeatlow (Brandon), works at Hometown Bank in Fond du Lac. Mark and Marilyn's second daughter, Rachel, will graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in May with a degree in general business. Their son, Aaron, is a sophomore at Laconia High School. He played on the JV football team, is currently on the wrestling team, and was inducted into the National Honor Society. Aaron is also active in 4-H.
Kathy (Zimdars) and Boyd Schleicher (Waunakee, WI) have joined the Waunakee-Westport Lions Club. Their youngest son, Erich, received his bachelors' degree in finance and economics at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, and is working as a financial analyst for Virchow Krause in Madison.

Ken McCullagh (RHS '71, Ripon), former husband of Luann (Rhode) McCullagh, passed away on January 17, 2008.
Claire Mathias, father of Loren Mathias and father-in-law of Vicki (Hoehne) Mathias (Palmdale, California), passed away on November 27, 2007.
Dan Schendel (RHS '72, Franksville, WI), brother of Patti (Schendel) St. Cyr (Bear Creek, WI), died suddenly on September 27, 2007. His wife, Lori, proceeded him in death on December 17, 2004. Dan was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and earned a B.S. degree in electrical engineering at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. (Source: Oshkosh Northwestern, Oct. 2, 2007)
Tom Stroinski passed away on December 14, 2007, at Manor Care Health Services in Fond du Lac after a courageous battle with multiple sclerosis. He was a self-employed carpenter until his health failed. Tom is survived by two sons, Thomas and Timothy. (RCP, December 20, 2007).
