RHS Class of 1973 News

Cyril Daddieh, currently Director of Black Studies at Providence College in Rhode Island, has accepted the position of Director of Black World Studies at Miami University of Ohio. Cyril and his family will move to Ohio this summer.
Justin Martin, 13-year-old son of Carol (Neitzke) Martin (Clarksville, Tennessee), auditioned in December for a position in one of three Middle Tennessee Honors Bands. Justin competed with 92 other trombone players from over 300 middle schools. He was accepted as second chair in the 1st Junior High Band. The kids received their music after Christmas break, practiced together for two days, and then performed a concert on January 14 at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro.
In January, Justin was invited to participate in a one-day seminar for middle school students at Austin Peay State University. Students had one day to work on new music with a guest director, and then performed a concert that evening.
Justin auditioned in February for the Montgomery County All-County Middle School Honors Band. He was accepted as first chair trombone. The band practiced for two days and performed a concert on March 4. They did an excellent job. Justin makes a Mom proud!
Jeff Root (Fairfax, Virginia) is celebrating George Mason University's 65-60 upset win over North Carolina in the second-round NCAA Tournament game on March 19. Jeff earned a masters degree from GMU, and the Roots live almost across the street.
