March 23, 2003
Debbie (Bonsen) Coolidge (Mesquite, Texas) was recognized in the "Hearts and Darts" column of the March 20 issue of the Ripon Commonwealth Press. Debbie gave the keynote speech to the Texas Society of Auctioneers at their annual formal banquet in San Antonio on March 22.
Pat (Henslin) Ehrenberg (Ripon) presented "The Quiltmaker's Gift" during family story time at the Ripon Public Library on March 8. Pat was inspired by "The Quiltmaker's Gift," a book by Jeff Brumbeau, to create a nationally recognized quilt of the same name. In addition to presenting the storybook, she displayed her quilt at the library. (Source: Ripon Commonwealth Press, March 6, 2003).
The Ripon High School boys' basketball team had a great season, winning the 2003 ECFC-Lakes Division, Columbus Regional, and Whitefish Bay Sectional basketball titles. The Tigers' season came to an end on Friday as they lost to Seymour 53-51 in the Division 2 state tournament semifinal game. (Source: http://www.wrpnam.com/SPORTS2.html)
Teacher News
Cal Schaub (Ripon), former RHS German teacher, was diagnosed with liver cancer in September. Since then, the cancer has spread to Cal's lungs, pelvis, and bones. (RCP, March 13, 2003). Please keep Cal and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

John Reinsch (RHS '72) will resign as mayor of Ripon effective June 1. John has accepted the position of conversion analyst for the Brookfield, WI, office of Fiserv, a financial management data processing firm that works closely with banks and credit unions. (RCP, March 20, 2003).
Brian Blauvelt (RHS '74) went diving in the Similan Islands, Thailand, in December.
In Remembrance
Kathy Yvonne (Miller) Thiel (Ripon, RHS '76) died of cancer on March 10 at her home. Survivors include her husband, Michael, two daughters: Monica (Dave) Schroeder of Ripon and Leslie (Perry) Schisel of Kimberly, and three grandchildren. (Source: Bruce Link, RHS '76).
