About Me

My name is : JoAnn
Pen Name is: Joynheart
I was born in New Orleans,La.
I now reside in Baton Rouge, La.
I am Disabled but not useless!

I feel that God gave us all many talents and gifts: find them, use them and above all "Share Them"

My Favorite Quote: Many things cannot be seen or touched, but they must be felt with the heart.

My on-line Life as Joynheart

My on-Line life includes All Health Group Chats. I enjoy sharing with Chronically Ill as well as other friends. I learn from and share with them all. I find them all to be so kind and sweet. Although they suffer and share in a great abundance of pain as I, they never forget the value of friendship.

I met my husband on AOL. Two years later he proposed to me on AOL. We were married 3/31/98. He moved from NY to Louisiana for us to share a beautiful life together at the ages of 56 & 57. Less than 1 year after we were married I was in an auto accident and everything changed as I was totally disabled and am homebound. The one thing that remains the same is our everlasting love for one another.

It was he who inspired me to write poetry and talked me into sending in the first poem to a contest. That one, and all others I've sent in have been published.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

I have been nominated Poet of the Year 1997 & 1999 by the International Society of Poets. I have received several Editor's Choice Awards.

I have published in "The Long Gray Line" which is the magazine for The New York State Police that is published for the New York State Troopers.

I have been published by Sparrowgrass Publishing, and have won the weekly contest for the Tips n Such which is a Senior Citizen Weekly Newsletter.

The YES! Magazine in the United Kingdom has asked me to do an article about myself, my disability and what inspires me to write poetry, along with my aims for their November 1999 YES! issue. I hope to encourage more of he disabled to explore what they "can do" in place of thinking of what they "can't" do, and to encourage them to pick up their pens and share their story.

Due to the encouragement, support and request of my on-line friends as well as my family and other friends, I have been inspired to publish my first book. I hope to have it ready for print by the first of the year 2000.

I truly enjoy sharing my poetry with all and especially my AOL Health Chat Friends with whom a close relationship has developed and grown.
