ENDANGERED SPECIES

What changes will there be this century?

As a millennium baby I look to the future with hope and expectation.

But are we doing enough to look after our world?

About 100 species are lost each day and scientists estimate it will reach 40,000 a year in 2000 and beyond.

below are some of the species on our planet that may not be around for my children to see.

These are just a few of the endangered species on Earth.
WHY?
These are the main reasons for extinction
DESTRUCTION OF HABTAT
Due to man clearing land for settlement,farming and industry.
Natural changes and pollution.
WILDLIFE TRADE
Including the capture of animals for pets, zoos and reseach. Others are killed for fur, hide,tusks and horns.
OVER HUNTING
Mainly for sport but also many marine mammals like the dolphin are endangered by commercial fishing.
COMPETITION BETWEEN DOMESTIC AND NONATIVE ANIMALS
Man again. The introduction of pets and farm animals into a new enviroment affects the native species
