Margie Ann Swartz
Born 1955 or 1956 in the state of Oklahoma. Blond natural curls, and blue eyes.
Margie Ann is my cousin she was placed up for adoption by the courts of Oklahoma.
This Web page is for Margie Ann Swartz
Margie was daughter of Juanita Francis (Hair) Swartz. She and her sister Juanita Swartz were placed up for adoption in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Margie was adopted when she was 9 or 10 years old. Juanita Swartz was never adopted. They had a brother but he was adopted by their half sister Kay and not placed in the orphans home. His name is Richard Lee Swartz.
Juanita use to return every year to the orphans home for the reunions of those who lived there. She hoped that Margie Ann would show up. Juanita gave up researching for Margie Ann that way and now waits for her to look her up. They have several brothers and half sisters still living. LaVita Kay (Durham) Betz. Gerogia C. (Durham) Douglas, Walter C. Durham, Wanda Lou Swartz (?), and Richard Lee Swartz (Richard is the youngest). Robert Durham and Melvin Swartz died.
Sorry to say her mother Juanita Francis (Hair) Swartz or Gilbert. died in Norvember 1986. I do not know anything about Mr. Swartz.
I Janet (Silks) Rowan a first cousin of both of the girls out of Pheobe Jane (Hair) Silks have taken up the search. Margie Ann lived with her Aunt Pheobe for several years after she was born and became her "My little Margie". Margie Ann thought of Pheobe as her mother.
In 1959 Pheobe and family had to move out of the state of Kansas because of health problems with her husband Jesse "Ted" Silks. Two weeks before the move Margie was taken to Oklahoma to visit and say good-bye to her siblings and mother. The plan by both parties were to pick Margie Ann up on the way to moving to the West coast. Pheobe went to where Margie was supposed to be and the family hid her and would not give her back to Pheobe. Broken hearted Pheobe and family with their home sold all their belongings loaded in a trailer house and a truck had to continue the move without Margie Ann.
For several years there was bad feelings between Pheobe and her sister Francis over her not giving Margie Ann back to her. In about few years word got to Pheobe that Margie Ann and her sister Juanita were being taken away from their mother by the courts and placed in an orphans home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I believe it is called the Baptist home.Of course Pheobe left for Oklahoma to go to court to get Margie Ann. The courts said OK to Pheobe adopting Margie Ann BUT she would have to build a privite bedroom on their California home right away. At this time it was an impossibility for Ted Silks to build an extra bedroom. Pheobe went home once again without her Margie Ann, her heart broken and full of grief. Never did Pheobe forget Margie nor did any of her children. Margie was dearly loved as one of their own in the Silks family.
Margie was 4 years or so long in the orphans home before she was adopted out. Some say she was adopted by a school teacher from Tulsa Oklahoma.
Where is she now and what is her new name?
Margie would be in her 40's now. Just think, she does not know she is loved so much.
