I'm interested particularly by GENEALOGY specially by the history of "SYLVESTRE" or "SYLVESTER".
I'm aware that SYLVESTRE are Anglo Norman surnames of Celtic origins. They were Celtic people living in Normandy in the ancient times.
From there, William of Normandy( named "Quillaume le Conquérant "by the Frenchmen) cross the Channel, invade England and won the battle of Hastings (1066) defeating Harold 11.
In my opinion,it seems that all SYLVESTRE origin from a common ancestor. A branch stayed in France and another settled in England. These facts can be verified at the Web site: "Family History Resource Center". Moreover there're records on the family at the British Museum in London. Did you ever observed that these 2 names (Sylvestre-Colson) are Celtic and that can be pronounced in English or French without changing the orthography.
As for me, my ancestors are: Nicolas Sylvestre and Tanche Colson from Pont sur Seine, Champagne ,France. Their son Nicolas(a soldier) born in 1644 reached North America and married Barbe Neveu in Quebec (1667-08-20).She gave birth to 16 children among them 6 boys.Nicolas died at around 85 years of age and was buried in March 1729 in Neuville,Que.He had a land of 20 acres in this village.
I have my Family Tree and I know my direct lineage.
I THINK THIS HOMEPAGE MAY HELP ME TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS FAMILY PARTICULARLY BETWEEN 1066 and 1644. I KNOW THERE'RE "SYLVESTRE" ALL OVER THE WORLD.
I WILL BE PLEASED TO RECEIVED ANY INFORMATIONS. IT'S A MATTER OF HISTORY, KNOWLEDGE AND WORLD GENEALOGY. IT'S A BIG CHALLENGE' ISN'T ?
