Venus, FL: ‘tis the season to be jolly…
Venus, Florida residents are preparing for the biggest holiday of the year. For example, permanent Venus citizens Chris Younginer and his long-term companion, John, are throwing a Christmas "one and for all" get-together on Saturday, December 17th at around 7:30 p.m. The gang are all then planning to go to a near-by all gay male campground frequented by Venus residents, to watch a long-time friend of theirs by the name of Vic perform in a "drag show."
All are invited, and hopefully all shall come! Among expected guests are Julian Moore and his youthful-looking "husband", Antonio Caban a.k.a Anthony, Raymond O. and Arthur S. a.k.a "Ethel," world-known female impersonator, Lee Byar, and his partner of 25 years, Jimmy. Ray, a.k.a. "Ray, the butler", and his librarian long-time spouse, Daniel, are also among the guests who are expected to attend.
This will be Anthony’s, 35, first Christmas here in Venus. Actually first one in Florida to be exact. He met the love of his life, Julian Moore, 43, on an on-line personals website called "Positive Personals." Only communicating over the telephone for a short week, the two met up in Easton, Pennsylvania, where Anthony resided. After spending a week together, Anthony knew at
once that Julian was the man he wanted to share the rest of his life with. Anthony re-located to Venus, a far-stretch environment change to which he had been accustomed to. When asked, after five months later, if he regrets his spontaneous decision, Anthony replies, "Moving here with Julian is one of the best decisions I have ever made." He adds with a smile, "I have completely adjusted to Venus’ laid-back lifestyle."

Many would say it is the perfect place for a vacation getaway to the country. But for most of us here in Venus, it’s our home. Our permanent getaway.
Yeah, let them all call us red-necks or trailer park people (or trash as some would probably say) because we don’t care. We are all proud of our little hill-billy town called Venus. And we wouldn’t trade it in for anything else. For as for all of us Venusians would say: "Venus, your always on our minds…
