Do some research first, look for the average purchase cost, compare your lifestyle with that of the breed, what will the maintence costs be for the next 15 to 20 years.
When choosing a kitten, please do not be offended if a breeder asks you many questions about you and your lifestyle. She is being a responsible breeder and wants only the best for her kittens.
We advise buyers to look for small catteries where the cats/kittens are mixed with the family for better socialibility. Ask the breeder if the parents are on the premisis and if you can visit.
You should be allowed to have your kitten "choose" you. Look for playfull, active, clear eyes & nose, clean ears and trusting of strangers.
Reputible breeders never sell to pet shops and the "discount" Ragdoll being offered with no papers may be a mixed breed that just looks like a Ragdoll. The breeder may not have been authorized to breed and the kitten probably has not had the medical or social needs met. Pet shops Ragdolls are rare, much more expensive , not as well socialized and may have health problems.
