Tales of Our Ferrets
I thought I'd post some stories and tidbits about some of our ferrets and maybe a few of our other residents. These tales and tidbits should give non-ferret owners an idea of why ferrets owners get the giggles at some of their ferrets' antics.
To the left is a poor rendition of the floor plan of the apartment that we lived in so you get the idea of just how much running the ferrets could do and so you understand some of the stories I may tell here.

As you can see, every room except the bathroom has at least 2 doorways. The ferrets could literally run around in circles all through the apartment, which was very cool and very fun for them.
While fishing with Gregg and his Dad on KY lake one vacation, I "caught" a brand new 12-lb boat anchor. We used it as a door stop between the Anti-Room and Bedroom 2.  Our apartment was in a very old house and nothing in the house was level. That door wouldn't stay open on its own.

Froderick either didn't like that door open, or he was just messing with the other ferrets, because he would move the anchor so the door would close. The anchor and open door were in the Anti-Room. Unknown to the other ferrets, they'd come running through Bedroom 2 and run into the closed door.

~~ Gregg was washing up in the bathroom one day with the door open. Igor came bouncing in from the hallway, past the bathroom, looking and chittering at Gregg the whole time. Then Gregg heard a thud. Igor had run into the closed door to Bedroom 2. He came back to the door way to the bathroom and read Gregg the riot act. Gregg said Igor really told him off for that door being closed and running into it.

~~ Hans' favorite hidey hole was inside the dryer. Our old dryer had an opening under the door area to the inner workings of the dryer. We NEVER ran the dryer while the ferrets were not caged as we never knew who might be inside there. Hans had hand tools in there and all sorts of goodies. Sometimes I'd see him take something in there and I'd tell Froderick to get the prize. Most of the time Froderick would come out with whatever it was.

Hans had a thing for hand tools. He LOVED them.  I caught him trying to get a snake light into his hidey hole one evening. It was quite a battle. Hans was inside the dryer and I, of course, was outside the dryer. He was pulling from the inside and I was pulling from the outside. He nearly won that battle!

~~ Our washer and dryer were in the kitchen. We had one of those plastic clothes sorter things in the kitchen and it usually had clothes hanging on it. We kept it by the refrigerator. One evening I heard glass clinking in the kitchen. I went in to find that Helga had climbed the clothes sorter bags, grabbed hold of and climbed the clothes hanging there and made her way to the top of the refrigerator! She was up there rearranging the knick knacks that I thought were out of ferret reach. That was the only time we had a ferret scale the clothes sorter.
~~ This tale is about Madison, our German Shepherd.

Gregg was eating carrots and veggie dip. Madison loves carrots, so Gregg would give her one, sans dip, for every few he ate. Well, she saw Gregg dipping his carrots in the dip and she wanted some, too.  Gregg gave her a carrot and she dropped it on the floor.  She begged for another. He told her she dropped hers on the floor. She picked it up with the end of it sticking straight out of her mouth and very slowly moved it toward the dip container that Gregg was holding in his hand on the arm of the recliner. She almost had it in there when Gregg realized what she was doing. hehehe
