"The Mystery of David's Bridge"
Review By Jerry Pat Bolton, Houma, Louisiana:

After the first shock at Bailey's cool every-day-normalcy I began to really get into her.  You have written a book which targets a certain segment of the reading audience; those who want a good mystery to read yet does not like all the blood and guts that goes with so much of what is out there today.  Pulp fiction you don't write.  And that is to be commended.  You knew, and had the feeling that it wasn't just you that wanted this kind of mystery, and you thought, rightly so, that if you could just get your story to the right people, you would be published.  Enter Hilliard & Harris.  History.

Bailey is a pretty street-wise woman but she also retains her feminine side which I liked.  Her first case seems to be a run of the mill background check but before it is over so many different things happen that the background check almost gets lost in the crowd.  Her present man and love life is suspect right from the get-go because, when she thought of him it wasn't with a lot of relish.  Enter Kyle.  Done deal.  I would also have been disappointed if you hadn't had Sam in there somewhere, in the form of Eddy.  Also there was, I believe, a whole lot of Pamela June in the persona of Baily Ferrol.  Yep. Sure was.

You packed so much intrigue and mystery into the 183 pages it is just amazing.  You had the background check ongoing and Bobby Potter coming to her house ready to commit mischief with guns, and she starts troubleshooting for Matt in the high-rent district, and all the while she and Kyle finally find time for some serious between-the-sheets love feast, not to mention the fact that a leg bone was found under the bridge which added to the suspense.  I mean, Baily had so much going on that as I kept reading, realizing how close I was to the end, I'm thinking you have got to do some serious writing in order to settle all the problems.  And serious writing you did.  Everything just fell into place and by the time the last page was read I was sighing a huge sigh of relief because my buddy had written herself a damn fine little mystery.

The Mystery of David's Bridge is finished. Would someone ask the author to step on it and complete the next one?

The story may have been set in Virginia, but the characters and the mystery itself could have taken place here in my own hometown. Everything was so believable, so real. The police chief, the bookstore owners, Bailey...I know these people! What I didn't know (but thought I did) was what was going to happen. The author did a very good job of keeping me captured and guessing; up till the very last few pages. Bravo! Now...the sequel? Next?

Review By Eveline Maedel, Nipigon, Ontario, Canada:

Welcome to David's Bridge - a quaint little Virginia town where life is quiet and routine - or is it???

In this her first Bailey Ferrol mystery, Pamela Kimmell has created a cast of intriguing characters and enough action to keep the book moving along nicely. You'll become hooked from page one, and ready for the next in the series by the time you are done! While one "mystery" is wrapped up by the end of the book, there is lots more going on to keep readers interested. Bailey is destined to become a favorite with mystery readers!

This is definitely a book to take to the beach or while relaxing at the cottage!

Sincerely and from my heart, I LOVED your mystery! I was so caught up in it last night that I had to finish it before I went to bed. Your characters are wonderful and I enjoyed getting to know them, and can see where you could have many spin off stories to continue your series. Who are you going to write about next? I loved the book shop couple, and your hero sounds so yummy!

Anyway, I am gushing, but wanted you to know how good I think this book is. I am recommending it to my husband. You write in the style of Sue Grafton, and I don't think her first book was near as well put together as yours.

I just finished the book and absolutely loved it. What a great first novel, Pamela! You are truly a gifted writer and you obviously have a great imagination. I felt as if I knew the characters, you explained them so well. I think that Bailey could be a very good friend if she were real. You certainly gave her great taste in clothing. I really liked the town of David's Bridge - it sounds like an ideal place to live. I also liked the way you tied up the situation with Brad - that was well done. The ending was a total surprise to me. I like that in a mystery because so often you have it figured out way too early in the book. I hope you will be writing more soon about Bailey and Kyle and Eddy. I would also like to find out what happened with Tammy and her brother and sister. Thanks to Dotsie for encouraging us to read this entertaining first novel.

My sincere and heartfelt thanks to all of you who have read and provided comments about my first novel...I won't keep you waiting for the second one!
