Krishna Assistance Center, India is a NGO, which represents a body of volunteers, consisting of international and national participants who combine and coordinate their activities to serve humanity in different areas and at different levels. It has two groups with two major objectives. One group is responsible for running activities in normal time and the other group, which is highly competent and trained, is taking care of those activities which are undertaken to prevent and fight the menace of natural and man-made disasters.
KAC has its administrative and controlling office at 'FARIDABAD' bordering 'New Delhi'. It prepares programs for the institution as a whole and monitors step by step progress of their execution at different level and locations. It also coordinates the activities of KAC offices scattered at different locations and provides support system to them so that the sustenance of programs is maintained at every level. Moreover, it liaisons with other NGO's and Forums, Governmental bodies and other like minded institutions to integrate efforts and disseminate information pertaining to Most Vulnerable People and humanity.

Mission and Programms
The KAC as an NGO believes that the service to a person or a community is nothing but a service to the God. It has been formed with a 'mission' to help and serve 'Most Vulnerable People' [MVP] namely children, women and elderly persons in particular and the humanity in general. KAC is working round the clock to fulfill its mission.
ACTIVITIES OF KAC
The activities undertaken by KAC include conferences, seminars, symposium and training in respect of cultural exchange, community development, health and education, naturopathy, Indian Yogic Practices and philosophical intellect, disaster management, environmental issues etc.. However, KAC also designs and formulates specific programs keeping the requirement of people at a particular point of time. The present activities of KAC may broadly be divided into two major heads:- 1. Targeted Area Program [TAP]; and 2. Camp Area Program [CAP].
The activities, which are done on regular basis in normal time, are covered under 'TAP' and the activities, which are undertaken to fight natural disaster or any specific requirement, comes under 'CAP'. Presently KAC is operating from three locations namely Faridabad (Haryana), Varanasi (a renowned tourist place in the State of Uttar Pradesh) and Narayanpur (a village located in the state of Bihar). KAC is planning to run varied routine programs and will also arrange 'Specific Programs' for groups of volunteers/tourists on special request.
HOW TO JOIN AND PARTICIPATE IN KAC PROGRAMS IN INDIA
KAC, INDIA runs varied Programs throughout the year in the different parts of the country. If requested, Specific Programs are also prepared/ arranged for an individual or a group as per their requirement. But, such request should be made atleast 15 days in advance so that proper planning is made. There is a requirement of minimum one-month's commitment with KAC programs. However, a commitment of at least three months duration shall be preferred, as it would provide proper opportunity and time to volunteers to go through the programs in detail. It would make a complete and satisfying experience with KAC.
LONG TERM PROGRAMS:
KAC also arranges long-term placements of atleast three months duration to provide specialized knowledge and training. It requires in-depth involvement in the work of the KAC and other sponsoring organizations. Though, such programs may be similar to that of the shorter- duration, the focus may be more specific and specialized. Volunteers can participate in the works like editing and publishing of different papers and notes, assisting 'program committee' in drafting present and future programs, providing valuable suggestions to improve existing activities, independent organization of projects and so on. People are placed at different centres according to their specialization/ profession under this program. For example, computer professionals are required to take up issues pertaining to 'Information Technology'; Doctors are placed at Medical Centers etc. Similarly, volunteers wishing to work with children can stay at a school or home for children for teaching them. They should be prepared to learn some basic Hindi language, preferably before they leave for India.
SHORT TERM PROGRAMS:
Short Term Programs are prepared for a duration of one week to four weeks keeping the requirements and needs of each volunteer. Such programs involve work with urban and rural people. However, more thrust is given to programs involving Indian villages and villagers as this area provides better opportunity to work for the welfare of downtrodden people. The activities undertaken in such programs may include community work, supervision of construction of roads and buildings, various agricultural activities, literacy and health projects, yogic practices, naturopathy, environment related issues, special programs for the welfare of children, women and elderly people, sanitation schemes etc. These programs and projects are undertaken for the welfare of Indian villagers. These programs are mostly undertaken by respective KAC units. However, other Non-governmental organizations are also encouraged to participate in these programs, especially in those areas where KAC offices are not located. Short-term projects also include office-related activities of KAC offices in Faridabad and at other locations. Moreover, it may also include drafting and attending conferences and seminars on community development, natural and man made disasters, cultural exchange and environmental awareness compaign etc.
PROGRAMS FOR GROUPS AND TEAMS:
On request in advance, special programs for groups and teams of volunteers are also arranged by KAC. Such programs are useful for groups of students and other tourist groups who may like to experience the warm hospitality of India.
INDUCTION TRAINING:
Volunteers are required to participate in Induction Training immediately after arrival in India. This training is intended to provide an opportunity to become acquainted with KAC mission and goals, Indian cultural heritage and living style of Indian people, safe and economical ways of living and travelling within India. It is a introductory kind of exercise which has been designed to ensure convenient stay of volunteers in India.
LODGING AND BOARDING FACILITIES:
Volunteers are provided simple but hygienic boarding and lodging facilities at all centers of KAC at a cost based on 'No profit and No loss'.
PARTICIPATION COSTS:
Participation costs of programs are based on only actual expenses incurred by KAC and therefore, it is very minimal. However, there are certain parts of cost, which are not refundable. Therefore, volunteers are requested to go through manuals and discuss thoroughly with the 'Program Coordinator' before signing up with KAC. There is an element of commitment period with all programs and thus, volunteers are requested to understand the implications of leaving a program before completing period of commitment.
Registration fee: $ 50.00 Program Fee * [four weeks] : $ 250.00 Program Fee * [twelve weeks] : $ 700.00
Additional Fee per week: $ 75.00
* It includes contribution towards boarding and lodging charges, administrative costs and Induction Training costs in India. KAC volunteers will receive the participants at the airport itself to avoid any inconvenience in searching location or otherwise.
All fees have to be paid to KAC, India at least 30 days before the departure date or in special cases, immediately after the arrival in India. The 'Registration Fee' and 'Program Fee (four weeks)' are non-refundable. Other fees are refundable to the extent of 95%, provided a notice is given atleast 30 days in advance. (50% with seven days notice).

MEDICAL INSURANCE:
Adequate health facilities are available at most places in India. However, individual medical insurance coverage should be obtained before leaving for India.
