On this page we have my "Brake Van" for the Kalaloch Estate Railway. The car is based quite extensively on Gary Watkins' 1/20.3 scale "Tool Car"; but scaled-up to 7/8", and narrowed by one scale foot to allow for the fact that it is now a two-foot gauge car. As far as this one, it is the usual story, laser cut plywood and basswood, my own white metal hardware, et. al. I used LGB marker lights and lit them with a 9V battery (shown for scale), which adds a really nice touch for night running.

Nothing too exotic, a car a little over ten scale feet long, about 55" wide; just the sort of car for a small operation or "home road". In my case, the chassis is a leftover LGB four-wheel frame from a scrapped out European prototype flatcar.

The doors are of course able to be opened and closed, in this scale such niceties are a must -- but also relatively easy to do.

The end view, narrow and tall, as we have come to expect on the ultra-narrow gauges.

The interior received a coat of typical "billious apple green" as befits any proper caboose. She may be bordering on caricature, but she sure is cute.
