This will serve as a miscellaneous page for my 7/8" scale stuff. Who knows what will find it's way onto this page!
The first item is a quicky "gas facility" for my fleet of gasoline locomotives. The model began as a sheet of 1/4" thick Sintra (or Trovicel -- both are foamed PVC sheeting). The decking is scribed into the surface, and then stained. The glass top gas pump is made by Gearbox Collectibles (I bought mine from Evers Toy Store); the drums are from either Sierra Valley or from the craft store. Total time expended once I had the parts was maybe 30 minutes. I chose the relatively obscure brand of Skelly Gas as there is a local connection, members of the Skelly family at one time lived in the St. Louis area.

So I can carry my cars in and out from the outdoor layout, or to friend's layouts for running sessions, I made this "carrying box". It consists of three "trays" made from 3/4" thick plywood, and 1/4" thick Luan plywood. The 3/4" plywood "planks" are 24" long, 13.5" wide, and have three "roads" cut into them for the flanges to follow. Pretty simple, and quite effective. The three trays stack up, and are held together by two strap clamps. The lid has a crate handle for transport. This particular box will hold 36 cars similar in size to the LGB tipcar or gable bottom.

That's the late, lamented, office cat Smokey in the upper image!

The middle image shows a close-up of one tray, so you can see the table saw cuts that form the flange guideways. The hardest part of the project was getting the three "tracks" spaced properly and laid out!
All buttoned-up in the lower image, ready to go on the road. The three trays in my case are not identical, thus the color coding of the trays. The lowest red one has rubber feet, while the upper red one will only fit into the middle gray one. Plus, the colors make it stand out.
