Welcome to KAL Home Educators Network
Kal is a home education network, originaly set up to support home educating parents in Kent and London. Kal has grown so popular that we are now spreading our wings and offering free membership to anyone in the uk and beyond who may be home educating or maybe just interested in taking this route.
We support many families, from families whose children may have special needs, right through to families who believe their children should be allowed to enjoy their childhood stress free
" CHILDREN SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO BE CHILDREN, AFTER ALL"
WHAT ABOUT THE SOCIAL ISSUES ?
Many people believe that, children who are home educated become isolated in their homes. This could not be further from the truth!
Home educated children often have better social lives then their school peers, meeting up on a regular basis and building very strong friendships. Many also attend groups such as, Scouts, Dance, football and many other social events including regular organised events/meets with other home educating families.
Kent and London home education (KAL) network, has a number of web support groups, where you can gain access to free information, advice, resources, educational links and it gives you a chance to make friendships with other home educators. We have a regular free newsletter for our members, giving details of regular events/ meets taking place near them.

Whether your child is home educated, in school part-time or even in school full time, if you believe that education does not stop at the school gate, then the KAL Home Educators Network is for you!

H.E IS LEGAL IN ALL OF THE UK!
Under section 7 of the Education Act of 1996,
The parent of every child of compulsory school age, shall cause him/her to recieve efficient full time Education suitable
A) To his/her age, ability and aptitude.
B) Any special educational needs he/she may have, either by attendance at a school or "OTHERWISE"
" OTHERWISE " Referes to the right to Home Educate your child!

We are working hard to change the LEA's attitudes and policy's towards Home Educators
|

We have been working hard towards improving relationships with Kent LEA, with the aims that Kent LEA, along with other LEA's, will improve their attitudes and policy's towards Home Educators.
We have been working alongside/with other Home Educating, and have now gained some experience in this field. By continuing to work along side one another, this can only be a positive thing and therefor we do keep a lists of other groups.
We will continue to build on all the good work that has been done, by others along with ourselves, at the same time, contiue to fight for the rights of Home Educators!
We are able to liaise with the LEA, on behalf of Home Educators.

We also have a children's web group, where children of all ages, are encouraged to add their:
Art work, stories, favourite reciepes, share idea's for resources and generally help to make their web site better.
The children's web group is for our members children only and is very tightly moderated.
Please note:
That all children requesting to join the children's group, do so under their parents guidence. We have very strict rules and guidelines for our children's group but please bear in mind that this is for the children's saftey. Please remember that even though we do our very best to keep our children's group safe, children remain the responsibility of their parents at all times and parents are encouraged to moniter their child's computer use.
