We have been called the Pee Wee Football Capital Of The World with one of the largest participant groups around!
The MPWFA is made up of 18 teams in each of four age groups for a total of 72 individual teams!
Flag football is played by 4, 5 and 6 year olds.
Tackle football divisions:
7 and 8 year olds are the "E" Division
9 and 10 year olds are the "D" Division
11 and 12 year olds are the "C" Division
Assignment to a particular team is governed by the elementary school district (in the Mesquite Independent School District) in which the child resides and/or attends. A limited number of exceptions to the MISD residency requirements are available each year so contact us for information if this is your situation. The division of teams by school district prevents teams from being "stacked" by anyone recruiting players based only on athletic prowess.
While there is no league rule about minimum playing time per player, the league does have a by-law that any coach that continually fails to make a reasonable effort to give all players playing time can be brought before the league officials to explain themselves on this issue.
MPWFA Coaches are encouraged to attend classes and join the NYSCA which is the National Youth Sports Coaches Association. See the link provided for more information on the NYSCA.
MPWFA teams have ventured out of our area to play football games on or after Thanksgiving weekend for several years now. If you have an invitation to extend please contact us. MPWFA also has cheerleading and drill teams!
Each team has its own cheerleading and drill team squad. Eligibility for particular teams is the same as the football rules. The "C" Division adds 13 year old girls.
Each year around November 1st, the drill teams have a huge day long competition event held at Memorial Stadium in Mesquite, Texas.
