THE BUTTERFLY MESSAGE

My Mother always loved butterflies. I thought they were pretty, but never really paid that much attention to them. I didn't appreciate their beauty until after my Mother's death.
My Mother died a week after suffering a cerebral aneurysm. She was 50 years old. I remember feeling a little overwhelmed by the suddenness of my Mother's death. I was angry and confused. I was unsure of everything in my life because the ONE person I could count on was gone forever.
Not long after she died, our family went to the lake at The Monastery of The Holy Ghost. This Monastery is in Conyers and not far from our home. We have always loved going to the lake and feeding the ducks. The weather was very mild that day, especially for a Georgia summer. As we were feeding the ducks, a breeze began to blow. We began to notice a butterfly fluttering around us. Then another...and another. Soon there were about twenty beautiful Yellow Tiger Swallowtail butterflies flying all around us. They were almost swarming and were landing on the ground at our feet.
At that moment, a calm peace settled over my soul. I was going to be okay. I still had a long journey through my grief, but that Butterfly Message let me know my Mom was at peace and that everything was alright.
I now notice butterflies around me. I wear a different butterfly pin everyday to honor my Mother. When someone comments on my pin, I can tell them her story and let them know what a wonderful person she was. She left behind many people who loved her and most of them now notice butterflies more than they ever did before.
