Falsely accused of murder, heavyweight boxer Ted Grant adopted a name and costume that would soon turn him into the toughest and one of the most feared street-level heroes of the Golden Age - Wildcat!

Origin
After a crooked manager rigged a fight that killed his opponent, Ted Grant soon found himself accused of murder and on the run. While trying to find a way to clear his name, he came across a young boy reading about one of the new mystery-men that had began appearing in the last two years, Green Lantern. Inspired, Ted adopted the name and costume of Wildcat.

Career
While intending Wildcat to only serve as a way to win back his freedom, Ted soon found that his new identity was more than needed on both the homefront and overseas in World War II. He soon joined the JSA and the All-Star Squadron. Retiring after the war, he has recorded only a few adventures until the JSA began teaming up with the recently formed Justice League and then later as the JSA reformed to find the new Fate child. He serves as the team's trainer and unofficially as the resident tough guy.
One of the greatest hand-to-hand combatants in the world, Wildcat has trained heroes such as Batman and Starman; as well as some who have operated outside the law - Catwoman.
