KEVINHOG'S SPORTY PAGES
Here's a couple shots after the piece has seen a couple more hours against the soft wheel with the light rouge.  Quite a difference huh?  The picture on the left is right off the wheel and the one in the center is after about ten minutes of hand buffing with Mother's polish and a little Never Dull cotton wadding. To the right of center is where we started. Below is a shot of the primary cover temporarily installed on the motor just for the contrast.   If you were to send this to the polisher, it would cost you somewhere between 50 to 100 bucks.  It's dirty and it takes some time for a large piece like this primary cover, but you can save some serious dough.  Also you will be surprised how many of your bolts and brackets actually polish up like chrome in only moments.
Here's a shot of the other side and the cam cover I cut and polished along with the sprocket cover and master.  I also shortened the forks and have stripped and repainted the front wheel.  I will be polishing the edge of the wheels and modifying my handlebars next.  Keeep checking back once in a while as I plan to cronical all the work I do to the bike.  Perhaps we can learn something.
Laterdaze for now

Feb 2nd 2001...
Today I finally put my motor on the bench.  I kept avoiding it thinking that I wasn't going to turn this into a long term project.  Yeah right.  I pulled it, cleaned hell out if it with 2 cans of gunk, three cans of carb cleaner and super hot water and tide.  Nancy got one of those electric rechargeable scrubber goodies that she couldn't find a use for.  It's the absolute perfect thing for parts cleaning after all the degreasing is done.  It's called a "Scrub Devil" and is perfect for getting into those tight places like inside the spokes on mag wheels and tight corners where grime and oil are hard to get at.  Here's my motor on the ground nice and clean.
Come and visit our club. if you want to know more about ironhead Sportster's there is no better place and no better people.

Here's the empty space where my motor was just a few hours ago.  I really pulled the motor cuz I want to paint it and I was having some trouble getting the wiring harness out from under the motor.....I WIN !!!
