Rose and 1/2

The lights blare on. I open my eyes slowly so they can adjust to the light. I sit up in my cold hard bed, the one thin blanket slides off me. I notice that there is something crunchy in my closed fist. I open them to see that there is an old shriveled up rose in my hand.

Were did this come from I thought. I throw the rose to the ground and stand up and walk over to the closet. The closet door was about half way open with a big dent on the side. Like always the door would not open. I grabbed a hammer that was laying on the ground next to the door. I hit the metal door were the dent was and the door flew open with a few sparks shouting out.

I put on a pair of old blue jeans and a sleeveless shirt. People call me old fashion for wearing clothes like this. Now days people only wear leather, even though its all fake because pretty much every animal from Earth One was wiped out.

I walked over to the window. When I was standing about a foot away from it the blinds unfolded itself. I look down at the ground, well at least of what I could see of the ground. It was storming outside so all I could see was the clouds. I walk away from the window and the blinds fold back. I head for the door to go to work, I was already late. But right before I left I remembered to grab my gun.

I walked out of my apartment and almost instantly a Delgu cop stopped me and ask for ID. “May I see your ID please?” he said as he held up a little mettle square box with a little stereo on it. I put my thumb on the metal part.

It Beeped twice and said “Sion Paxton. Current living area: Delgu region. Current occupation: Space Force pilot. Gun Registration: Approved.” the little machine made a long beeped and stopped.

The officer looks at me and says “looks like every things in order,” then he just walks off. After that none of the other cops stopped me. I looked at my watch. I was thirty minutes late. I looked around the long white hallways that led to other apartments and shops. It was still early so there was very few people walking around. I walk forward and down a couple step and walked into the train.

No one else was on. I sat down in a seat right next to the door. The seatbelt warning went on and the train started to move forward. At first I went slow but then it blasted forward. The train went forward for a little while then it turned strait up. Then diagonal, then forward, then to the side, it turn a couple times. You may think It was a waste of time to go through all this. Same with me, if there is a super computer that can control a whole building you think they could make it so the train could tell when someone was coming to get on the train.

For another while the train went strait up then forward. I pressed a small red button on the side of my chair. The train slowed down and made a full stop. The doors of the train opened up and I walked out. I walk up some stairs. Some times I would jump up 5 or 6 step. Since this planets gravity was synthetic it was easy to brake. That’s one of the main reasons the space port was at the top.

I walk forward a little more till I came to a big metal door. I put my thumb on a little key pad that was next to the door and the door opened up by itself. Inside there was the space deck. The space deck was always busy, It was the main job of the Sontex tower. I look around, all the ships were out of there ports except mine. It was brown and white, and was shaped like a bulky jet with short wings and engines at the end of them. All the other were out in space or were in repair.

I walk over to my ship walking past hundreds of other people that worked there. When I got there almost instantly the cockpit opened up. I was about to jump in but…

“Ah Mr. Paxton, you’ve finally arrived. A little late though.” I turned around, it was my boss Miss. Gonou.

“I know you wouldn’t do that, and I know that you know that I’m one thousand times better then all these guys out here.”

She glares hard into my eyes. She may not like me but she knows its true. “Well just be on time more often,”

“I’ll try but I’m not making any promises.” And with that she turned around and left. I jumped into the cockpit and instantly she lit up.

“I’m always ready,” I hit a red button in the middle of the control panel, “lets go.” We blasted forward quickly. Almost instantly I was in space. We slowed almost to a stop, “Nine, activate manual drive.” There were a couple of beep the two joysticks popped out of the sides of the ship. I grabbed them and pushed the red button on each. It blasted forward into space.

On the screen in front of me it showed a digital image of space and how many kilometers it was away from the battle field. “Sion incoming message,” said Nine the ship.

“We only have two left, I knew you were coming so I saved them for you, a GS v.6 and a plasma handgun with only 16 bullets left.”

“Listen” I complained “the GS v.6 can only take about 10 to 12 hits, and there’s no guarantee that they will destroy them in one hit. But you know I can destroy them in one hit. Also the handgun has only 16 bullets, that means if the GS craps out after 10 times being used then I would have to hit all the others with a head shot. All of them. You know I can do that. Half these guys out here would be lucky to get a arm shot. But you no that I can get them all head shots. Doc send both of them to me or you know we’re all screwed .”

He sighed loudly “Okay, okay, okay, I’ll send them both to you. But if you tell Gonou about this I’ll have your head. Over and out.”

“Yes Sion.” Nine said. All of a sudden the ship began to change. The mettle became gooey. The engines on the end of the wings move to the back of the of the cockpit and the wings became more rounder. Then to giant round balls on the bottom of the ship moved to the end of the wings. The wings and the balls kept on forming till it became arms and a fist. The ship got hard again.
