Computer charts of ages and genealogy expose
secret patterns which oral tradition couldn't possibly have known

Several years ago after a lifetime of procrastination, I undertook the task of reading the Bible as a book, start to finish. As anyone who has ever begun in Genesis has noticed, there are so many "begats" in the lineage of the patriarchs that your eyes begin to cross.  "Adam begat so and so at age X, so and so  begat so and so at age Y, and then so and so begat . . .yada yada yada." Many just skip right over the patriarch begats, assuming that particular information was probably relevant for somebody, once upon time, but not now!  However, the very assumption that God would put so much un-ending useless information in His Word, obsolete fluff, if you will - gave me pause. Perhaps, I wondered, if I just took a magnifying glass to this seemingly pointless run-on sentence, I might uncover MEANING.

So I graphed all the numbers; each patriarch's birth year, his age when his heir was born, and his age at death in various charts to compare and analyze different possible correlations, including a time line covering 3000 years, from zero (Adam) to Moses, punctuated by THE FLOOD, EGYPTIAN CAPTIVITY, and EXODUS.  The divisions into four eras I named: 1. Pre-Flood, 2. Post Flood, 3. Egyptian Captivity, 4. From Wilderness/Promised Land to today)

The following sections are my analysis of the fascinating and incredible patterns of human life that emerge.  Please note: my analysis is without the benefit of any commentaries or books on the subject. I haven't heard of any similar writings on patterns in the begats. Part of my intent in publishing this to my web site is to invite anyone who knows of any further resources or previous studies on this topic to enlighten me.
