The Doe
Sitting high atop the rock formation, deep within a forest of the Berkshire Hills, the sun warms my face as I take in the beauty of the hills and valleys below.
I am lost in the moment when my attention is drawn to the rustling of brush not far away. I am surprised by the sudden appearance of the graceful doe. My heart leaps with joy as she draws near. Fully aware of my presence, she walks closer still.
As she feeds on the leaves and berries our eyes meet several times. Although we share no common language, we share volumes in our gazes. I am welcomed into the deepest part of her soul through those large loving eyes. She has accepted me into her world, one loving being to another.
I am moved by her beauty and humbled by her spirit. She has shared this moment with me freely. As I turn to look out once more at the splendor that lay before me, tears slowly begin to roll gently down my cheeks as I realize...I have just been touched by my creator. I turn for one last look at the magnificent doe, she is gone.
